Suggested Applications
- Organic poultry feed — Natural yolk colour (astaxanthin), highly digestible calcium, protein for egg mass. Feed trials at Aarhus University showed significantly darker yolk colour (P<0.001) and increased egg weight (P<0.01).
- Aquaculture feed — Natural marine protein with mineral content. Compatible with benthic species diets. Chitin supports innate immunity in farmed fish.
- Hobby & bait — Rich amino acid profile drives strong attractant chemistry in boilies and groundbait.
Trial Results
Feed trials conducted with DLG and Aarhus University (Steenfeldt & Hammershøj, 2025, UpForCrabs project) demonstrated:
- Significantly increased egg yolk colour intensity at both 5% and 10% inclusion (P<0.001)
- Increased egg weight reaching statistical significance (P<0.01)
- Positive trend in laying percentage and feed conversion
- Highest albumen dry matter at 10% inclusion (P<0.05)
- No negative effect on feed intake — no palatability concerns
